Temple Emanu-El Women's Seder

By Congregation Emanu-El of the City of New York (other events)

2 Dates Through Mar 29, 2020

ABOUT ABOUT

You are cordially invited to the Temple Emanu-El's Women's Seder. Please join us to celebrate women's voices through the ages - led by women, for women.

In order to allow all women in our community to participate in this sacred gathering, the suggested donation for a ticket is $54. The actual cost of the Seder is greater per person; however, the generosity of our community allows us to offer this sliding scale option. Our minimum donation amount is $36. If you have additional financial constraints, please reach out to [email protected].

We will use a Haggadah originally created by the Temple Emanu-El Women's Seder Liturgy Committee. This version highlights the courageous women who are integral to the story of the Exodus but are often left out of the traditional telling. With this unique Haggadah, we will recount the story of Passover, with its sweeping themes of oppression and liberation, and include all the significant elements of a traditional seder, while simultaneously underscoring the importance of women’s collective and individual histories in our lives and our tradition.

We hope you will enjoy and participate in the seder, learn something new, relate to the story of the Exodus in a different way and make new connections with the women in our community.

This year, we aspire to extend the Passover message of inclusion beyond our Temple walls.  In service of that goal, we hope you will consider bringing an inexpensive new pair of women’s evening shoes to the seder, to benefit Project Prom, sponsored by Tikkun Olam on April 21-23.  Project Prom is an incentive awarded to more than 250 low-income academically motivated high school seniors to help them shine at their prom, by providing them with formal wear, accessories and shoes to wear to the big event.

We look forward to welcoming you soon!

Warmest regards,
